Anastasia Blease
My name is Anastasia Blease I am a Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry student at Loughborough University. I was born with a condition called Spina Bifida which means I am a wheelchair user, and I have been an athlete of Wheelchair Basketball since I was 8. I am from North Wales and began playing basketball in a small club in Rhyl and since then I have progressed my career to play for North Wales, Wales and Great Britain U25’s and Senior Women’s squad. I captained the Wales Women’s Commonwealth team in 2022, represented GB U25’s at the European Championships in 2018 and the World Championships in 2023, winning Gold and Silver respectively, and also represented GB Senior Women in the European Championships in 2023 winning silver. I am currently Vice Captain of the Loughborough Lightning Women’s Premier League team.

I have often struggled with my menstrual cycle and was recently diagnosed with Endometriosis which has only grown my passionate belief in every young person’s right to an informed period education. I am so excited to embrace my role as ambassador for Period Education UK to pursue these beliefs and make true change to the way the menstrual cycle is viewed and taught in the UK.
